APCI Consultation Exercise
On 31 October 2003, Professor Castles, Chair of the
Advisory Panel on Country Information, wrote to fifty
individuals and organisations inviting their comments on
the Home Office's Country Reports published in October
2003. The consultation exercise ran from 1 November to 31
December 2003.
This process generated some very useful comments and
the Advisory Panel is very grateful to those who
responded.
Country Information and Policy Unit (CIPU) of the Home
Office considered the comments received from the
consultation exercise and provided a report to the
Advisory Panel at its 2nd
meeting on 2 March 2004. The report provides details
of comments received, together with CIPU's response to
these. As part of this process, CIPU also considered
issues raised by the Immigration Advisory Service (IAS) in
its report about the April 2003 Country Report, Home
Office Country Assessments: An Analysis, published in
September 2003.
CIPU's report, together with copies of those consultation
responses submitted in electronic format, may be found
with the papers of the 2nd meeting 2 March 2004.
At present, there are no plans to undertake any further
formal consultation, but the Advisory Panel always
welcomes comments on the Home Office's Country Reports and
Country Information Bulletins. These should be submitted
to the email and postal addresses below:
